Minimal Guide to NYC Water


New York City is the largest city in the United State with a population of more than 8.6 million. The size of the population is more than double the population of the second largest city, Los Angeles. To sustain the lives, New York City alone consumes more than 1 Billion US gallon a day. Then where are these water coming from and through what kind of system?

           



Minimal Guide to NYC Water is the map that shows how far water we use everyday coming from through which kind of system. The actual length between each reservoir is converted into size of manhattan. Manhattan is 13.4 mile long and it is 4cm in the graph. All other length are changed accordingly. The amount of water that each reservoirs can contain is showed with different sizes of square.  

The goal is to make audience to realize how much effort exist behind those water we take it for granted. Also it allows audience to think about the link between urban landscape and the ecosystem far away. Resources are limited and we have to wise about it.
